- Big window with lots of diffusion
I aim to feather the light across babies face & as I have a south facing window this is the best position for baby to achieve the light I love.
- Place parents by the light.
By having parents by the window it means baby gets loads of gorgeous light in their eyes when they look at them. Plus mum & dad are always the best at getting those gorgeous smiles.
- Direction of light
I always aim to have the light coming down babies face, or across it at a rough 45 degree angle. I find that this is the best way to give the image depth & capture the babies beautiful features.
- Get down low
I aim to be at babies eye level, so for most of my sessions I’m really quite low. Either slouched down against the wall, or lying on my tummy.
- Keep checking angles
I constantly check my back of camera through sessions both to check my settings as the light changes, but also to check the angles I’m shooting from. Angles are key to my work & I always aim to be parallel to babies face as that’s the focus.
This is so helpful thanks!
Great tips! Thank you for sharing!
Nice to meet you.
What kind of cushion is used for newborn baby photography?
I would be grateful if you could tell me the size, material, and where to buy it.
Also, is the size of the cushion small if it is about 30 inches?
Beautiful work and great tips 🙂
