So you may be sitting there searching ‘baby photographers Hertfordshire’ and feeling a bit bamboozled by all of the websites and photographers out there.
I know first hand how confusing it can be and its especially hard as you want these photos to be perfect.
I therefore thought I’d write a little blog post that may help you sift through the plethora of websites and find the baby photographer in Hertfordshire that’s right for you.
Step 1 – Lifestyle, Studio, Outdoor?
These are the areas that baby photographers specialise in and here’s a very brief overview of what each type of photography covers.
Lifestyle photographers come to your house or a location of your choosing and photograph you naturally in that environment.
Studio photographers have their own studio space that you visit for your photos.
Outdoor photographers have outdoor areas that they will recommend and can also go to an outdoor location of your choosing.
Step 2 – Natural or Posed?
If you prefer the idea of studio photography because let’s face it who wants the pressure of tidying every inch of their house when you have a baby and little ones under 1 year can be tricky outdoors, especially if it’s cold or if it rains. Then you have the choice between more posed baby photography versus a natural style.
The norm for baby photographers in Hertfordshire is to pose baby and their family, which basically means telling you where to look and how to stand/sit.
I however specialise in a natural style of baby photography as I believe that photos should tell a story and show more than what your baby looks like.
In my studio babies are able to play with any of the toys they choose and more where they like.
I want to capture their personalities and every detail from how they move, their little faces as they concentrate on a toy, to the way they snuggle into your shoulder.
Step 3 – Location?
Now you know the style of photography / photographer that you want, you simply have to decide how far you’d like to travel.
For some people it’s more convenient if the photographer is local, in fact I have lots of people in Hemel Hempstead who come to me and its less than a 10 minute drive for them.
But equally I have people travelling up to 1 hour (from Hertford, St.Albans, Berkhamsted, Hatfield, Watford) for their sessions and they use that time to make sure their little one has a nap on the journey over.
