I’m often asked what the best ages are for photoshoots and I always say that the first year is absolutely key.
There are 3 types of shoots that I’d recommend everyone books and these are summarised below…
NEWBORN
I would always implore people to book a shoot within the first 2 weeks of having a baby. Babies grow and change so much and it’s amazing to capture how tiny and new they are.
SITTER
7-9 months is my favourite age to photograph. They’re still all squishy with those delicious baby rolls, but you can really start to see their personalities shining through. Plus you capture them just as they’re sitting and in some cases starting to crawl, which is such an adorable stage.
1st BIRTHDAY
These sessions are so much fun! They change an incredible amount in that first year and this is such a fantastic way to mark this huge milestone. It’s an hour where they are the complete focus and we sing songs, dance, they have a cake to gobble or play with (whatever they please), then we finish with fun in a miniature bath tub.
Once you’re out of that daunting first year an annual or bi-annual family photoshoot is a lovely thing to do and will mean that you have beautiful photos to treasure and look back on for years to come.
Mummy and me photoshoots are fast becoming one of my favourites. Mums often shy away from being in front of the camera and it breaks my heart, as you’re depriving your children of these amazing images for them to cherish when they’re older. Plus the bond between mum and baby is incredible and makes the most beautiful photos.
Then of course they are the Christmas mini sessions. These are great value and make the best Christmas cards and presents for the grand parents. Keep your eyes peeled as I’ll be launching my 2016 Christmas sessions soon!
