Being a cake smash photographer, I used to think it wasn’t really for me.
All of the styled themes, bright colours, jazzy set ups and huge cakes are super fun and the photos are lovely.
But it all jarred with my pursuit of a more natural and simple style of photography.
But then I realised that although that’s how other cake smash photographers did things.
That wasn’t how I had to do them.
So I decided to change things up and be a different kind of cake smash photographer.
With two amazing local bakers (Lotti & Lu and The Curson Cake House) we developed a little tiered cake that is just perfect for tiny hands.
That teamed with my white studio, organic wooden toys (all from Sarah & Bendrix) created a beautifully natural and simple cake smash.
We start each session playing with the toys, then play with bubbles and sing songs. Basically just having fun.
Then out comes the little cake. Babies love investigating the new textures, smells and of course the taste.
Finally we bring in the mini roll top bath tub and there’s lots of splashing and more bubble blowing.
