Natural newborn photography for me is perfect and I had this idea to achieve this by merging the naturalness of lifestyle photos.
You know, the ones where you’re at home, totally at ease, just being you.
But with the convenience, consistency & beautiful lighting of a studio.
I’ll explain a bit more…
Lifestyle photography has an authenticity, it has an honesty. Capturing you, your baby & your family as they truly are. How you hold your new baby, they way you rock them, cradle them on your shoulder, change their vest.
It is natural newborn photography at it’s best.
Capturing your new baby as they truly are. Every stretch, the way they like to sleep, their little yawns.
But lifestyle newborn photography traditionally takes place in your home & as a mother I know the last thing I wanted to think about after giving birth was making sure the house looked presentable for photos.
Plus not every house is bathed in natural light with big floor to ceiling windows. In fact I don’t know any that are.
Therefore I wanted to combine the purity of lifestyle photography with the awesome & consistent light that I’m lucky enough to have in my studio, thanks to my big floor to ceiling window.
So that’s what I aim to achieve in every newborn session.
